Sandoz GmbH is a leading company in the rapidly growing generics sector. It is one of the cornerstones of Novartis‘ company portfolio.
The Sandoz Group’s largest production and development site is located in the Tyrolean town of Kundl. The active substances produced there enable one billion patients a year to be treated for bacterial infections. Over 140 million medical packages leave the factory for use in over 100 countries every year. The Kundl site counts as one of the largest producers of antibiotics anywhere in the world, and is the last remaining fully integrated manufacturers of penicillin in the West. Decades of experience in the field of biotechnology also laid the foundations for a new generation of pharmaceuticals: biosimilars. Sandoz is the only company with authorisations for three biosimilar products – two of these are produced at the Austrian sites in Kundl and Schaftenau. Sandoz GmbH is Austria’s leading manufacturer and exporter of pharmaceutical products.
